VISHRUTI was founded in Los Angeles in 2020 with a philosophy of modern luxury, effortless style and off-beat glamour.

Juxtaposing future innovation with romantic nostalgia, sporty prèt a porter with theatrical haute couture and infusing a menswear sensibility to sharpen softer silhouettes, artistic director, Wish Deo hopes to reinterpret fashion as an art form in a refreshingly new and compelling way.

“Fashion is art with function and that creative challenge to me, is universally and eternally exciting”

“Rebirth or Regeneration” is a strong yet familiar theme this season, one of self exploration and introspection. Reconciling new and progressive ideas with her roots as a couture designer, Wish Deo continues the conversation from the previous season. To reinvent yourself without losing your sense of self is to come full circle on a higher plane. Mushrooms are a recurring theme in the collection which signify the cyclic nature of life and also of transformation through growth.

“The Themes of Rebirth and Regeneration are expressed through repetition and continuity."

The roots of the line can be traced to Wish’s early childhood in bohemian beach town Goa, a cultural intersection for all things art, music and theatre. Raised by fine artists, each uniquely crafted piece is fully realized by Wish Deo, in that she conceptualizes and creates her own original prints and embroideries.

“Fashion is my ether and the stories I tell are brought to life by my highly sculptural, textural, and often deconstructed creations”

Her eclectic style combines practical wearability with sudden flights of fancy and is often infused with whimsical and unexpected details. “Vishruti” meaning Fame or Celebrated, epitomizes restrained glamour with an edge, power dressing with a hint of satire and sophistication with a hint of the ingénue. The clothing has an optimistic and inspiring quality that is meant to be transportive.

Created in the US, with an aim to supporting the local fashion community, she strives to find sustainable solutions for the manufacture of apparel in small batch production and is a strong advocate for slow fashion, less waste and an appreciation for the art.
